February is Children's Dental Health Month

February is Children's Dental Health Month and there are a number of things parents can do to help promote their children's oral health.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that parents take their children in for an initial exam when the first tooth erupts, typically between six months and one year old.

Healthy teeth and gums play a key role in overall health, which is why it is important to visit the dentist as soon as possible after eruption begins.

Did you know?

  • That something as simple as using the right toothbrush can help your child maintain healthy teeth and gums?

  • In fact, it's recommended to start teaching children how to brush their teeth by the time they reach two years old. It is also important to teach good habits early on such as proper brushing techniques, avoiding sugary snacks before bedtime, and visiting a dentist twice a year for checkups.
