Galbladder: "Even if I'm this cute, I'd like you to know that you can live your life without me"
To live a full and healthy life, you don't need your gallbladder.
A physician may prescribe that a patient's gallbladder be removed in order to prevent new gallstones from forming, as well as to treat other disorders such as cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation) and cancer.
"People may absolutely exist without one," says Ed Zuchelkowski, an anatomist and biology professor at California University of Pennsylvania. "However, they must control their fat intake."
