Worlds Down Syndrome Day

We celebrate Worlds Down Syndrome Day as an opportunity to create global awareness and to remember our brothers and sisters who have been diagnosed with this condition.

• Downs syndrome occurs in 1 in every 792 live births.

• Individuals with Downs syndrome are born with an extra chromosome.

• There are three types of Downs syndrome— Trisomy 21, Translocation, and Mosaic.

We are thankful for the life-changing discoveries that are made possible by our scientists’ tireless efforts. Expectant parents can now easily find out if their baby has been diagnosed with Downs syndrome through prenatal screening.
