Meet our friend Brexton—he is an amazing little fighter 💪🏼❤️ And just last Monday, Brexton celebrated recovery from his 2nd open heart surgery due to having a complex CHD!
Brexton was born with multiple types of heart defects known as complex CHD, his mom shares with us.
A congenital heart defect (CHD) is a structural problem of the heart that develops during pregnancy. There are about one out of 100 babies that are born with a congenital heart defect. There are many types of congenital heart defects, ranging from simple to complex.
As for Brexton, he was born with what is known as Coarctation of the Aorta (COA), Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), Double Outlet Left Atrium (DOLA), and Complete Atrioventricular Canal (CAVC) on top of having a leaky heart. As soon as he was born he only had a few seconds to be put on oxygen and prostaglandins (PGE) to stay alive!
Brexton has had multiple open heart operations for his complex CHD. His family is committed to raising awareness for CHD to help other families going through the same thing.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us @ausomelyos, we are sending you all our love.❤️
