Madison doctor creates toys to teach kids about organs

MADISON (WKOW) —  A Madison doctor is working to teach kids about the organs in our bodies in a fun way.

Dr. Ronak Mehta is the creator of Nerdbugs plush toy organs.

The idea started years ago when she wrote a children’s book about the human body. She hoped to one day bring the characters in her book to life in the form of plush toys.

“I thought it would be a fun learning tool for kids (or adults) that are into science, health and all things nerdy,” she said. “Even a fun quirky gift for a loved one who is sick in the hospital or post-surgery or just feeling blue or under the weather.”

This year, Mehta was nominated for Amazon’s Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year award.
